Our Team

One for the World is run by a small team of effective giving advocates committed to building a movement of effective philanthropists. 

Based in New Jersey, Wisconsin, Ontario, and London the One for the World team works in a fully-remote office.

Emma Cameron - Interim Managing Director

Emma joined One for the World in mid-2022 after running campaigns and managing a global, distributed network of volunteers at the farmed animal protection nonprofit Mercy For Animals. She has been committed to effective giving for almost 10 years, taking the Giving What We Can Pledge in 2015 during her graduate studies in geoscience. Since then, she has developed a career supporting the development of vibrant communities within both her home of Madison, Wisconsin and around the world. In her spare time, Emma is an avid ultrarunner and race director at the Driftless Trail Collective.

Rasool Somji - Data Operations

Rasool joined One for the World in early 2023, bringing a rich background from his work in education technology, most recently at the virtual reality startup VirtualSpeech. Based in London, he oversees our data systems and UK operations, combining his tech expertise with a commitment to impactful philanthropy, evident from his Giving What We Can pledge in 2021. Outside work, Rasool enjoys writing, prediction markets, and hosting parties.

Gabrielle Tran - Organizing Manager

Gabrielle joined One for the World after moving back to Canada from the UK where she completed her MSc in Economic Psychology at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Her background involves interdisciplinary research which spans moral psychology, AI safety, and global catastrophic risk. Previously, Gabrielle completed a fellowship at the Effective Institutions Project and participated in the 12th Oxford workshop on Global Priorities Research. She is passionate about the principles of Effective Giving and looks forward to working with chapter leaders in creating vibrant communities working to end extreme poverty around the world. Gabrielle is currently based in Toronto and enjoys reading, spending time with family and friends, and film photography.

Savita Deo comes to One for the World after teaching both adults and children in various settings. Her primary background is in Linguistics research - during her time at Bryn Mawr College, she spent three years studying the link between language and identity in multilingual, indigenous communities, and investigating how endangered language use is affected by a variety of complex socio-political factors. This research inspired her desire to work on global poverty, along with a passion for teaching and mentorship. Savita is currently based in New York City, and loves to spend her free time rock climbing, reading, and cooking new recipes.

Katharina Schwarz

Katharina channeled her views on the need for greater accountability and efficacy in the non-profit sector into leading the Penn Law chapter while earning her JD/MBA. She's worked for and with a range of non-profits and is currently an associate at Cooley LLP.

Kate Falkenstien

Kate is a partner at Blue Peak Law Group specializing in intellectual property litigation. She is passionate about effective giving and the "earn to give" movement. Kate obtained her law degree at Stanford University and her undergraduate degree from Yale University. She is currently based in Boise, Idaho.

Robert Colonel

Robert Colonel is a manager of Foreign Exchange Research at Bridgewater Associates. In college, Robert wanted to pursue "Earning to Give" to maximize his impact on the world through personal charity donations and persuading other individuals to donate. Robert focuses on governance and organizational strategy on the One For the World board.

Joshua McCann, Founder and Board Member, One for the World

Joshua McCann

Joshua is at the World Bank Group’s private sector investment arm, the International Finance Corporation, where he focuses on developing products to attract private capital investment into emerging market private debt.

Previously, he’s worked for the World Bank and Innovation for Poverty Action in Sierra Leone, conducting randomised controlled trials on aid and policy interventions.

The insight this provided into efficacious, cost effective philanthropic opportunities led Josh to be part of the founding team at One for the World while he was an MBA student at the Wharton School.

He’s based out of London and would love to discuss how you can launch a One for the World chapter.

Allyson Root

Allyson is a senior economist at Amazon and part-time lecturer at the University of Chicago. Previously, she worked with the US Office of Evaluation Sciences and Innovations for Poverty Action in Sierra Leone, conducting randomised controlled trials on various policy interventions. She is passionate about promoting evidence-based public policy and philanthropy.  Allyson obtained her PhD in Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of California - Berkeley and her undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh. She is currently based in Chicago, Illinois.

Jennifer Wong

Jennifer is a Vice President at Goldman Sachs with a focus on impact investing across the venture capital, growth equity and buyout ecosystem. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Jennifer was a Vice President at Glenmede, where she led impact investments in the private markets. Prior to her impact investing career, Jennifer worked for the Clinton Health Access Initiative in various public health financing roles in sub-Saharan Africa with a particular focus on HIV financing and Ebola response. She began her career in investment banking at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Jennifer holds an M.B.A. from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley. She serves on the Board of Trustees for One for the World, an effective giving organization, and on the Board of Directors for the Philadelphia Health Foundation.
