Jobs at One for the World

Director of Growth & Development:

To date, OFTW has been run by a group of volunteers, who have built OFTW on nights and weekends alongside their day jobs. In the last year we have received seed funding from the Open Philanthropy Project (on the recommendation of GiveWell) to support our expansion through to 2020, have tripled the number of campus chapters we operate, and have increased our pledged donations nearly five-fold (see our recent blog post here). We have recently secured a fill-time Executive Director and are looking to build out the leadership team in order to accelerate OFTW’s explosive growth.

About This Role

As the Director of Growth & Development, your primary responsibility will be leading and facilitating the success of OFTW chapters, the results of which will directly improve and save the lives of some of the world’s poorest people. This will involve supporting, training, and motivating the OFTW chapter leaders and building out the infrastructure and resources needed to support the chapters as we scale.

Skills and attitude we’re looking for: We are looking for motivated and effective candidates for this role. You should be comfortable taking on nuanced new problems (and knowing when to ask for help), developing strategies to solve them, and rolling up your sleeves to support their implementation. You should be able to engage with, motivate and mentor chapter leaders as they manage and grow their chapters. You should have a passion for One for the World's mission and be an enthusiastic and informed representative of the organization to potential new chapter leaders and members.

Experience we are looking for: We are open to applications from exceptional candidates of all backgrounds. The ideal candidate could have professional experience in management consultancy, high growth companies, top social-sector organizations, in finance or exceptional project management and volunteer organizing experience in the non-profit sector.

Role specifics and recruiting process: The successful candidate will be based in the USA. The location of the role within the US is flexible (the Acela corridor -- between Washington DC and Boston -- is ideal, though we are growing in other areas of the USA) and 10-20% travel is possible in order to visit chapters and engage with the effective altruism movement. We are committed to agreeing a compensation and benefits package that facilitates a comfortable life in a high cost of living area. The successful candidate will start ~ Fall 2019.
